Bridle Project
This project tells the story of my two grandmothers, Viviane and Toma, who immigrated to Israel from opposite sides of the world—Morocco and the Soviet Union.
Though their journeys were vastly different, both women experienced loss, separation, and material scarcity, yet carried immense strength, generosity, and feminine resilience.
The project began with a simple yet powerful object: jewelry.
Each piece they brought or passed down—rings, bracelets, earrings—held not only material but emotional and cultural value, serving as vessels of memory and tradition. From my Moroccan grandmother’s eight gold bracelets sent by her sister, to my Moldovan grandmother’s wedding ring and candlesticks, these heirlooms became symbols of continuity.
Inspired by this heritage, I explored wedding and engagement rings as cultural and emotional artifacts—symbols of love, commitment, and identity. The diamond, universally tied to marriage, became a key visual and conceptual motif, leading me to study the kaleidoscope as a metaphor for memory: fragmentation and reconstruction, clarity and distortion.
In Moroccan culture, the butterfly represents the soul of the departed. Through the white butterflies that guided my creative process, I dedicated this project to my grandmother Viviane’s memory.
The final look embodies lightness, fragility, and transformation—a delicate tribute to her presence and the generations of women whose strength shaped me.
The project is dedicated to the memory of my grandmother, Viviane ♥️
